Acts 16:25-26 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
There are so many instances in our lives when we are going to feel like we are in prison. Sometimes, those prison bars are the result of our own poor choices. Other times it is just the trials of life that God allows, in order to get our attention and help us grow in our walk of faith. How do we respond to these moments? It was while the Apostle Paul was in prison, time after time, that the Lord did some of the greatest work in him, and through him. Others were led to Christ, and today we have Books of the Bible because of those prison times. Are we so busy feeling sorry for ourselves that we are hosting pity parties, rather than leading worship sessions? Are we crying our sad songs of woe, or are we lifting our voices in prayer and praise? Life will have its "valley" moments. They cannot be avoided. However, the Bible reminds us in Psalms 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Do we truly believe this? Do the songs we sing during those "prison" moments reflect that belief?
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
