Stop the Excuses

John 15:5-7 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.  If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

What an amazing thought, that the God of the universe has made His home in us when we asked Jesus to be our Savior! The Holy Spirit indwells us 24/7. Jesus abides in us. He is available for us to worship and have fellowship with every second of every minute of every hour of every day. How much of that time do we squander, giving it away to things that have no eternal value? How much of that time do we waste worshipping the idols and gods in our lives? As children of God, we have no excuse (although we come up with all kinds) for not spending precious time with our Lord and Savior in worship and fellowship. The Word of God is readily available to most of us, and we can pray anywhere, anytime. What blessings are we missing out on, simply because we are not abiding in Jesus? What prayers are not being answered because we are not praying and asking as we should? So, let me ask you, "What was that excuse again?"

Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
