Romans 5:3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
Anyone who truly enjoys tribulations, please raise your hand. I did not think I would get many hands on that one, including mine. None of us truly enjoy suffering of any kind. However, the fact is that in this world we will have tribulations. Jesus promised that in John 16:33. However, He also told us that in Him we have peace, and in Him, we can overcome, because He has overcome the world. Here in Romans we are reminded once again that tribulations have a purpose. They build perseverance. Note that in order for us to glory in tribulations, we must first remember what we are told in verses 1 and 2 of Romans 5; in Christ we are justified (declared not guilty) by faith, and therefore we are at peace with God. Because we are at peace with God, in Christ we have access to God's grace, which allows us to stand and rejoice in the hope of God's glory. The bottom line is that no matter what we face or suffer, we can stand because of what Jesus did to bring peace between us and God. Thereby we can proclaim, if God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
