James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
What does intimacy with God mean to us? For some, and I have been guilty of this, it means serving God. However, it is very easy to get so busy with ministering and serving that the lines between serving God and having an intimate relationship with Him get blurred. Quite frankly, we can serve in a number of ministries, and our hearts still be far from God. We can serve, and still be living outside of the will of God. We can work hard at building the façade that makes others think we have intimacy with God, but in reality be as far from Him as one who does not know Him at all. Just like it is important to have a time of rest from the busyness of life, such as taking time off from work and not working overtime to exhaustion, we must take a time of rest, regularly, in serving, so that we make time for building an intimate relationship with the Lord, in prayer, His Word, and being doers of the Word. In Mark 2:27 Jesus said, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." In other words, God gave us the good and perfect gift of rest, and this gift was given to is for the purpose of receiving the blessing of being able to draw near to the Lord and Savior of our life; not as under the law, but as a freewill choice, in Christ Jesus. Are we using this precious gift for all that it is worth?
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
