We Can Win the Battle

2 Corinthian 10:4-6 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Worry, anxiety, and stress, all begin in our thought life. Jesus told us in John 8:44 that the devil is a murderer and the father of lies. Therefore, none of us, who are born again followers of Jesus, should be surprised that our enemy uses lies as one of his greatest weapons. He begins by planting a thought in our minds that causes us to question God's love for, and faithfulness toward, us. When we hear about the troubles and tragedies that happen in other people's lives, even Christians, the devils convince us that these same things will happen to us. Pick any number of things that can cause us to stress, and the devils will whisper the lies in our ears that will start the "worry train" in motion, in our heads. Sadly, we often forget, in the midst of unnecessary bouts of anxiety, that we have a weapon against the lies that the devils hurl at us...God's truth. We have the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, and in Christ, 24/7 access to the throne of God, where we can boldly ask for the help and grace we need to take these devilish thoughts captive (Hebrews 4:16). Greater is He who is in us, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Therefore we can be certain that just like the devils have the power to put those lies in our minds, the Holy Spirit has the power to helps us cast them down and take them captive.

Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
