To Believe or Not to Believe

Psalms 95:1-3 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord ; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

Today's Psalm encourages us to worship our God, but also issues a warning. The psalmist encourages us to come into the presence of our great God and King, and worship Him with thanksgiving and praise. We are to come before Him, making a joyful noise. However, the psalmist also warns us in verses 8-11 that we should, at all cost, avoid unbelief. We are warned not to harden our hearts. The Israelites, who were led out of Egypt by Moses, paid a great price for their unbelief. They could have conquered and inherited the land God had promised was already theirs; but instead of believing and claiming the blessing, they chose to go along with the report of the faithless men who were sent to spy out the land. As we walk with Jesus, there will be moments when what we see and perceive with our physical eyes will challenge what we see with our eyes of faith. When this happens, we must make a choice. Do we believe what we see, or do we believe what God has promised? Will we live life based on our own perceptions and judgments, or will we live by faith, believing and enjoying the blessings that come with trusting God at His Word? God is faithful, and our unbelief will not change that truth. In the end, we will either live a life enjoying the joy, peace, and rest, God promises we can have in Jesus; or we can live a life of unbelief and unrest. The choice is ours.

Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 7:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
