Psalms 98:2-3 The Lord has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations. He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Verse 1 tells us to sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done marvelous things! By far, the most marvelous thing He has done is made known His salvation; not only to Israel, but to the world! The promise He made to Abraham in Genesis 12:3, "And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed", has been fulfilled in Jesus. A day is coming when the remnant of Israel will finally recognize and acknowledge Jesus as Messiah. However, for us, the time to acknowledge, believe in, and call out to, Jesus for salvation is today; for today is the day of salvation! If we have already called upon Jesus, then regardless of what is happening in our lives, or around the world, we have the confidence that one day soon, the King of kings and LORD of lords is coming back to judge the earth. He will judge it with righteousness and equity (v. 9). How can we then, regardless of our circumstances, not have a new song in our hearts for our Lord and Savior? Let us make a joyful noise to the Lord, and break forth into joyous song and sing praises (v. 4)!
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 7:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
