Psalms 112:1, 7 Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Blessed, or happy, is the man who fears, or has reverence for, the LORD, who delights greatly, or finds exceeding pleasure in, His commandments. This Psalm lists the blessings that come with living a life of reverence to God and obedience to His Word. A life lived in reverence to the Lord helps us to raise a family who will revere the Lord also. A life of reverence for God is a life that will reap the blessing of enjoying, and being content, with wealth and riches God provides, both physically and spiritually. When our focus is on living in obedience to God's commandments, we become people who are compassionate and generous toward others with the things God blesses us with, regardless of whether it is little or much. A life of reverence for, and obedience to, the Lord, is a life of great peace. When troubling news comes we do not fret, for our trust is completely in the Lord. The bottom line is that a life that is lived for Christ is a life that is happy and filled with delight. It is a life that is filled with contentment, just as the Apostle Paul lived, and stated in Philippians 4:11-13. Let us strive today, and always, to live a God-honoring life of reverence and obedience to the One who gave His life for us.
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 7:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
