Psalms 97:10 You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
Do we, who claim to love Jesus, really hate sin? Do we truly hate evil? Job was a man who eschewed evil. God testified of it in the Book of Job. What an honor it would be if God could say the same thing about us when Satan shows up to accuse us. The sad fact is that far too many of us do not really hate evil. We hate what it does when it affects us adversely, or when it hurts someone we love; but as much as we claim to hate it, we continue to entertain our sins, without repentance. We criticize and judge others when they act wickedly, but we make excuses for ourselves, and try to justify our own sinful actions. We want God to act swiftly against those who sin against us, but we seek forgiveness for the pet sins we continually act upon, and hold on to. So, do we really hate evil, or do we only hate it when its consequences affect us personally? If we claim that we love Jesus, then we must also hate sin; not just everyone else's, but ours too.
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 7:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
