Psalms 66:5-6 Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. He turned the sea into dry land; they went through the river on foot. There we will rejoice in Him.
Can any of us really imagine what it must have been like to be at the edge of the Red Sea, with an Egyptian army in pursuit, and having no avenue of escape? If we are honest, we would have to admit that panic would certainly have set in. What seemed to be an insurmountable challenge, was nothing more than an opportunity for the Lord to demonstrate just a fraction of His power. That demonstration of God's might should have been enough to boost the Israelites' faith for the remainder of their journey to the destination God was leading them to. Yet, how quickly they forgot such a magnificent display of what the Lord was capable doing in their lives. Are we any different? How often have we faced seemingly impossible obstacles in life, and rather than trust God to make a way, we started taking matters into our own hands? How often did we trust our own limited perspective, that eventually led us down the path of doubt? This Psalm reminds us of the awesome works, and power of God. That same power is still at work today, and available to us in Christ, as we walk with Him on the path He has set for us. Along the way, we will be given plenty of opportunities to see His great power at work. When we find ourselves in situations where there seems to be no way, but He beckons us to go forward, those will be the times when we will have to trust Him, and His ways, and not lean on our own understanding. If the Red Sea could not stop Him from getting His people safely across, then nothing can stop Him from bringing us from where are today to where He wants us to be tomorrow, the next day, next week, or next year, should He tarry, and give us those days of life. We must not let the Red Sea moments in our lives discourage us from marching ahead. Trust God to always make a way.
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
