Psalms 119:37 Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way.
It does not take long, on any given day, before the world launches an attack on our senses; especially our eyes. From billboards to commercials to movies to the things we are exposed to in social media and the news; there is plenty of ammunition for the world to launch attacks on our spirit, by inciting the lusts and desires of our flesh. However, we have a counter-attack. We have God's Word and the ability to refocus our attention, in the power of the Spirit, so that God can revive us again. Far too many of us are sickly spiritually, discouraged, and struggling to walk in righteousness. The psalmist pleads with God to turn his eyes from the vain things in life, and restore his spiritual health, revive him again by the power of His Word (v. 34-36). His desire was to delight in the things of God, and not seek after selfish gain. We, as born again believers, are never more alive than when we are living sacrifices on God's altar; dead to the world, and alive to God. We are never more alive than when we take up our cross and crucify the flesh, because that is when we are quickened to life by the power of the Holy Spirit. I cannot help but be reminded of Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might." In Christ Jesus, we have the power to overcome the assault on our spirit, and be victorious in our daily struggle with the flesh; for only He can revive us again.
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 7:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
