Had It Not Been

Psalms 15:1 Lord , who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?

Today's verse should cause us not only to think, but also cause us to be grateful, and give praise to the Lord Jesus. For the truth of the matter is that there is none who has lived, is living, or will live, who is worthy to abide in the Lord's Tabernacle. There is not one of us who is worthy of Heaven. We have all, like sheep, gone astray. There is none who is righteous, or seeks after God. We were all born with a sin nature, separated from God, and doomed to eternal condemnation. Praise be to Jesus, the sinless, perfect, and only begotten Son of God, who came, died for us, and paid the price for our salvation. It is because of His righteousness that we are now found "not guilty" before our Heavenly Father; and it is because of the Blood of Jesus that we are made clean, only when we trust in His finished work on Calvary. One of my favorite Southern Gospel songs goes like this, "Had it not been for a place called Mt. Calvary. Had it not been for the Old Rugged Cross. Had it not been for a Man called Jesus. Then forever my soul would be lost." Today, let us give God the praise for the salvation we have in Jesus. Let us show our gratitude by telling someone about it, and do our utmost to live a life obedient to God's Word, for His glory.

Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
