Boast of Heaven

1 Peter 1:17-19 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

I am one who enjoys hearing about other cultures and its traditions. Many of us take pride in our heritage, and some even proudly display the flags of our countries of origin. As born again believers, do we take more pride in where we are from here on earth, or are we more careful to demonstrate to this world that Heaven is our home? The reality is that this earth is heading for a meltdown, a real "big bang", according to 2 Peter 3:10. A day is coming when the Lord will destroy this earth and heaven, and create a new heaven and a new earth. Sadly, we have a tendency to hold on tightly to that which is earthly, and give little thought to the heavenly. Because we put such importance on the earthly, we measure our worth by the things of this world; what we own, our status in society, what job we have, how much we get paid, how big our house is, or how new and fancy is the car we own (I should say "that the bank owns"). Nonetheless, we need to remind ourselves each and every day that regardless of where we were born physically, because we are born again, our home is not this earth. Our home is Heaven, and we were bought with a very precious price...the Blood of Jesus. Our importance is not measured by what the world deems important. Our worth is measured by who we are in Jesus, and the fact that we are precious to our God. So the next time we want to boast about where we are from and how important we are, let us boast about Jesus and what HE did to make Heaven our home.

Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive Him and His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
