John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Today we celebrate the freedom we have in our country. But are we really free? Looking around today, and truly pondering this, my answer is...no. However, for those of us who have believed and call upon the Name of Jesus, repenting and trusting Him for eternal life, we are truly free. As born again believers, today (and every day) we can celebrate our freedom from the enslavement of sin and death. We are free from Satan's grasp and free to serve the Lord. We are free from the fear of death and have the hope that one day we will be with Jesus forevermore. The only true freedom that exists today is the freedom that comes from knowing Jesus as Savior and Lord. If you want to truly celebrate freedom today, call on Jesus and begin to enjoy what being free really means.
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Romans 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Romans 10:13).
