Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.
Why do we panic when things seem to go sideways and out of control? Why do we respond to life and circumstances, as if God has somehow lost control? As born again believers we say that we believe that God is sovereign, all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever present; yet, we fly into a panic when life, our country, and the world seems to go crazy. Have we forgotten that God is the One who puts kings on thrones, and also dethrones them, as He wishes and decides? Today, we are reminded that God can direct a ruler's heart in any direction He determines best, in order to accomplish His will and plans? Has God not used unsaved rulers in the past to accomplish His will on earth in respect to getting His people's attention, and getting them refocused on Him? Maybe what we need to do today is take our eyes off of the nonsense and lies that are constantly being put before our eyes, and refocus our attention on Jesus, serving Him, and telling others about Him and what He did for us. The bottom line is that just as the king's heart is in the Lord's hand, we need to let God be the Lord of our hearts. We can either be living sacrifices on God's altar, letting Him lead us, and move in our hearts, or we can be the lords of our own hearts, sell out to the world, and become friends of the devils and the world. As we step back and take a critical look at our lives, let us ask ourselves, "In whose hand is my heart?" "Am I letting Jesus turn my heart wherever He wishes?" If not, is it not about time that we did?
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Rom 7:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Rom 10:13).
