Our Confidence Is In Him

I John 3:19-21 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.

Have you ever doubted your salvation? You know, that uncertainty that made you think, "Man, am I really saved?" Not that we've doubted that Jesus can save us, but that nagging thought that somehow our salvation didn't take, or stick. Well, John reassures us that the evidence of our salvation is in how we are living for the Lord and how we are loving the brethren. The fact of the matter is that we have an enemy that wants us to think that we are not really saved and that somehow what Jesus did wasn't enough. The devils have a way of putting thoughts in our minds that trigger our emotions. We then start feeling a certain way and that's when doubt creeps in. My friends, if we have put our complete trust and faith in Christ Jesus, and called upon His Name, then we have been indwelt and sealed by His Spirit. That is all the security of salvation that we need. Yes, there will be times that we stumble and feel like we aren't really saved; and the devils are always waiting for the right opportunity to pounce and get us doubting our relationship with God. However, those are the moments when it pays to know the Scriptures and the truths contained within. Just like Jesus used Scripture to push the devil back, we need to know the truth of our salvation and use that scriptural truth to help us stand firm in what we know about who God is in our lives, in Christ Jesus. When our thoughts and feelings condemn us, we can be confident that God and His Word are much greater than our emotions. When we are strong in our confidence of what God has done in our lives, we will have the boldness to approach His throne (in humility of course); knowing that He loves us and will never forsake us, even in our moments of stumbling.

Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Romans 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Romans 10:13).
