I John 2:13-14 I write to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father. I have written to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.
Today's verses are a good reminder that in the body of Christ there are different levels of maturity amongst believers, and that everyone is in a different place based on how much time we spend in prayer and truly living out God's Word. There are those who have known the Lord for a long time, are prayer warriors, and students of the Scriptures. There are those who are not as seasoned, but are warriors for the Lord, praying, studying, and sharing the Gospel in the face of persecution. Then there are those who are new Christians and babes in Christ. All of these are not necessarily old or young in age, although in some instance it might be the case. Nonetheless, in light of loving one another, this should make us careful about how we deal with each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. We must be patient with those who are not as mature, and be willing to disciple and mentor them. We must be willing to also be humble enough to recognize that we need to be mentored, and not behave as if we know all there is to know about God and His Word. The bottom line is that we are called to come alongside one another and support and learn from one another, as the Lord gives opportunity. Those are the moments when relationships will be formed and nurtured. Those are the moments when the world will see the love and unity the Lord wants us to demonstrate. In Christ, we have overcome the world and the devils. Let us live as if we truly believe that, in unity and in love, to the glory of God.
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Romans 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Romans 10:13).
