I John 2:9-12 I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
Satan's downfall was his pride. The Bible warns that pride comes before destruction, and before a fall. Far too often, we as believers, become prideful in our Christian walk. Therefore, we need to be reminded often that our salvation and forgiveness was not granted to us because we deserve it. If we got what we deserved, we'd perish for eternity. However, because we have a God who loves us, He gave us His Son and gives us what we don't deserve, for His Name's sake. In the Book of Ezekiel, God promised that one day He would restore Israel and put His Spirit in them and give them a new heart. He told them that He would do this, not for their sake, but for His Name's sake. Today, let us be thankful for the forgiveness we have in Christ Jesus. Let us remember that the forgiveness we received when we repented, confessed our sins, and called upon the Name of Jesus, is available to ALL who call upon His Name. We must not let the fact that we are saved and heaven-bound make us look down on others and think more of ourselves than we should. God did not forgive us and save us because we derserve it. No, praise God that He did it for His Name's sake.
Today, God extends an invitation to you to accept His free gift of salvation (Romans 6:23). Will you accept it? Anyone who calls on Jesus, by faith, in repentance, confessing your sins, will receive eternal life. Do not put off calling on Him, and receive His free gift of salvation today (Romans 10:13).
